The increased sensitivity of the insulin of intermittent calorie restriction can be related the significant decrease of insulin in the body during a reduced intake of one or two days in calories, which was followed by the regular intake of calories. Wrote, intermittent calorie restriction "can be used as an equivalent alternative to" diet "by weight loss and reduce risk of disease."

Previously, reviews of research have also speculated that intermittent calorie restriction may be related to better prevention of diseases that continuous fasting due to increased resistance to oxidativos-resultados stress of this study may support this assertion.
